takanadalagi.blogspot.com

Gran Turismo players! Update 1.42* for Gran Turismo 7 arrives Wednesday, January 24th at 11:00pm PST / January 25th at 6:00am GMT / 3:00pm JST. Let’s take a look at what’s included.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.42 arrives today with new cars and Café Menus

Three new cars

BVLGARI Aluminum Vision Gran Turismo

A digital concept car infused with the DNA of BVLGARI.

*Can be purchased in Brand Central from end of February

The BVLGARI Aluminum Vision Gran Turismo is a digital concept car inspired by the iconic BVLGARI Aluminum watch from 1998 and shares the same spirit: sporty, smart and essential, yet precise and quality crafted. The shapes, materials, colours, and overall design language of the car are directly inspired by the form language and spirit of the aluminum watch.

The barchetta body style is an archetype of sportiness which expresses dynamic movement, lightness, and performance. The body design is an essential combination of pure and geometrical shapes, which are symbolic of Italian car design traditions of creativity and character, integrating some original references to the glorious era of ’60s and ’70s concept cars from Italian Carrozzeria. The result is a timeless design that is undeniably Italian in its innovative conceptual spirit and its expression of style and coolness, transcending all the temporary fashions and short-term trends, to affirm itself as a pure expression of BVLGARI design DNA.

Complimentary offer for owners of the BVLGARI Aluminum Gran Turismo Limited Models.

Those who purchase the BVLGARI Aluminum Gran Turismo Limited Model chronograph watch and register via the QR code will receive this car at no additional cost along with early access ahead of the official February release (to be distributed as a Car Ticket each month beginning late January). Take this opportunity to experience BVLGARI’s revolutionary digital concept car alongside this Vision Gran Turismo 10th anniversary commemorative chronograph watch.

Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept

A sports coupe that embodies the athletic elegance sought out by Genesis.

*Can be purchased in Brand Central

The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept emotionally applies Genesis’ Athletic Elegance design philosophy. The design orchestrates the cab’s backward proportions with Genesis’ typical anti-wedge attitude that is structured around a virtual parabolical tensioned theory common to the entire Genesis model line-up.

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept design language is pure and muscular with the volumes centered around the wheels. It sports Genesis’ new front fascia that abstracts the crest grille and links it with the quad lights, structuring and connecting the volumes from front to rear with the two-line brand identifier. The fuselage extrudes itself towards the rear in an elliptical concave volume that can be found on other Genesis vehicles. It is framed by a rear spoiler and lateral trailing edges for aerodynamic high-speed stability.

The interior derives Genesis’ Beauty of White Space attitude by creating a purist environment for the pilot. The essential functions are prioritized to maximize track performance focus. The digital panoramic interface serves as information center linked to the surround digital monitoring system, while the steer-by-wire grip commands allow precise maneuvering. The quilted, padded bolsters protect the pilot while racing and during the speedy entrance and egress on pit stops. The X Gran Berlinetta Concept features an impressive aerodynamic fluidity.

The designers have achieved a drag coefficient of 0.34 by integrating aerodynamic aids and orchestrating internal and laminar flows. The X Gran Berlinetta Concept is powered by a front mid-mounted Lambda II V6 engine, electrically assisted by Genesis E-SC technology. The hybrid race-spec drivetrain delivers a total of 1,071 HP (1,071 BHP) 986 ft-lb (136.3 kgfm) of torque, ensuring that this car is as powerful as it is beautiful. The V6 screams at 10,000 rpm while delivering a maximum output of 870 HP (870 BHP) and 790 ft-lb (109.2 kgfm) while the Yasa E motor generates an additional 201 HP (201 BHP) 196 ft-lb (27 kgfm).

Suzuki Jimny XC ’18

Amazing all-terrain ability beyond its size. Japan’s mighty micro off-roader.

*Can be purchased in Brand Central

The Jimny is a cross-country style 4WD model that has been produced by Suzuki since 1970. While there have been variants in each generation that crossed over into the compact car class, the mainstay of the series is the ‘kei’ model. The series has continued to develop over the years with a 2nd generation model introduced in 1981, the 3rd generation introduced in 1998 and the 4th generation in 2018.

What has remained constant across the entire series though is its construction, which uses a ‘kei’ size body shell fitted to a ladder frame chassis with rigid axle suspension and oversized tires. The drivetrain used has always been a part-time four-wheel drive layout, though rear-wheel drive only models have appeared as well. The all-terrain ability that this thoroughbred offroad setup affords has earned it praise not only within its native Japan but across the globe as well. It has found a home as a commercial vehicle in areas with extreme snow and mountainous conditions, become a popular choice for outdoor leisure enthusiasts and even become a base car for off-road motorsports.

The main features of the 4th generation Jimny introduced in 2018, are its overtly square body and its round headlamps which take the design back to its roots. Additionally, its stability and ride comfort at high speeds, a common weakness of primarily off-road vehicles, have been greatly improved. Also, the 660 cc turbo engine has been specially tuned for the Jimny, and the classic part-time four-wheel drive system has been returned to a mechanical transfer case. To reduce wheel spin, the car comes with electronically controlled brake LSD traction control as standard. The most popular model in the line-up is the luxury XC grade which comes with a wide variety of extra features such as cruise control and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

Café / Extra Menus

The following two Extra Menus have been added:

  • Extra Menu No. 34: ‘Nissan Motorsports‘ (Collector Level 46 and above)
  • Extra Menu No. 35: ‘Dodge’(Collector Level 32 and above)

A brand-new race event, the Jimny Cup has been added to World Circuits along with new Vision Gran Turismo Trophy races for 2 tracks.

  • Jimny Cup Sardegna – Windmills / Willow Springs International Raceway / Lake Louise
  • Vision Gran Turismo Trophy Tokyo Expressway / Autodromo Nazionale Monza

'Best Coffee' Shop in Downtown San Francisco Shutters, Owner Blames Pandemic - The San Francisco Standard

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

The renovations and equipment required to open Mazarine, including coffee grinders, the espresso machine, refrigerators, freezers and ovens, cost $700,000, Rafati said.

To close Mazarine, Rafati had to cancel his lease a year early, so he agreed to give the equipment away to the building's landlord along with a lump sum cash payment.

Rafati wouldn't say how much the lump sum was, as he signed a nondisclosure agreement about the terms of exiting his lease, but said the amount was "tens of thousands" of dollars and hinted it was close to $50,000.

Garces Trading Co. restaurant at the Kimmel Center has closed, and the future may be dim for Volvér - The Philadelphia Inquirer

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

Garces Trading Co., the cafe and mini-market in the lobby of the Kimmel Center, has closed after only a year. Further, the long-term future of Volvér, the posh Jose Garces restaurant on the Kimmel’s Spruce Street side, seems murky.

In a joint statement to The Inquirer, the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center Inc. (POKC) and restaurant operator Ideation Hospitality described Garces Trading’s closing as a mutual decision, effective Monday. Scott Campanella, Ideation’s chief executive officer, said in an interview that Garces Trading had become “a financial burden.”

A POKC spokesperson said it hoped that another operator would open a new cafe, also accessible from the Broad Street entrance, by summer.

In the meantime, the bar in the lobby near Verizon Hall that serves snacks and refreshments will stay open.

Ideation operates Garces’ restaurants such as Amada, Buena Onda, and the Olde Bar, as well as Garces Events, which has operated out of the Kimmel Center for most of the last 12 years.

Garces, who is Ideation’s chief culinary officer, said Tuesday that he expected Volvér, the posh restaurant on the Kimmel Center’s Spruce Street side, to close in June, the end of the Kimmel’s 2023-24 season.

Campanella said he was not aware of any final decision on the part of POKC regarding the Volvér space or its relationship with Ideation and Garces Events.

The 34-seat Volvér, and its bar next door, opened in 2014 with dinner seatings for which tickets were required. More recently, Garces oversaw a guest-chef series at Volvér that provided visibility to chefs from underrepresented communities.

Garces Trading Co. was launched in 2010 at 1111 Locust St. in Washington Square West. It combined Garces-branded groceries, a restaurant, and, for a time, a small Fine Wines and Good Spirits shop that enabled the restaurant to operate as a BYOB. It closed amid Garces Restaurant Group’s 2018 bankruptcy. Ideation revived it, first as a pandemic-era ghost kitchen.

The other Garces Trading location, in the lobby of the Cira Centre across from 30th Street Station, is unaffected by the closing at the Kimmel.

Garces Trading’s opening added a quotidian use to the Kimmel lobby at Broad and Spruce Streets. Inquirer culture reporter Peter Dobrin wrote that “with the opening of a cafe in its lobby, Philadelphia’s major arts center is taking another run at inviting the city in.”

“Yes, I know: In one sense, a few dozen seats and a place to have a macchiato and a country-ham-on-baguette is a modest gesture,” he wrote. “But quietly and convincingly, the cafe is already easing one of the arts center’s long-standing deficits. It has made the institution less opaque — metaphorically and physically.”

Dobrin observed that “when you pass by on Spruce, you look through glass to see a warm social tableau inside — people eating, drinking, and talking. This legibility of activity within has never been possible in this prime spot. Cafe crowds, though modest so far, are bringing a level of steady activity not seen at the Kimmel in many years.”

Mangette in Long Beach Is a Chic French Cafe and Restaurant - Eater LA

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

A chic new daytime restaurant called Mangette opened in Long Beach’s Zaferia district late last year from Los Angeles restaurant veterans Alicia Kemper and Marie Delbarry. Kemper is the owner of the wine shop Buvons located next door to Mangette (and a member of the Eater Young Gun class of 2015), while France-born Delbarry is a manager at the wine shop and culinary events coordinator. The indoor-outdoor cafe serves comforting and easygoing French food for breakfast and lunch, with eventual plans to collaborate with local chefs for dinner pop-ups.

Mangette is a made-up word derived from the French verb “to eat,” along with “ette” to canote a little place. Though Delbarry said the opening weeks were slow, weekend traffic has picked up at this lesser trafficked portion of inland Long Beach, a stone’s throw away from the busy Belmont Shore and 4th Street corridors that tend to attract trendier eateries. The historic, brick-lined 1940s building was retrofitted to serve food before Mangette and Buvons moved in.

Sporting high ceilings, long windows, and a lovely back garden area, the counter service restaurant serves butternut squash and carrot soup topped with chive creme fraiche; soft scrambled eggs with salad and country toast; and a farro grain bowl with minced mushrooms, onion soubise, roasted daikon, and poached egg. More substantial lunch fare includes a well-crafted jambon beurre sandwich on a baguette, as well as a terrific fried fish sandwich on a brioche bun with tartar-like sauce gribiche. Noe Duran, a former cook from Michelin-starred Heritage, helms the food menu. To drink, a full coffee menu based on Counter Culture beans stands up to the top espresso spots in Long Beach while dessert includes a plush olive oil cake topped with a dollop of chantilly cream.

Long Beach’s culinary rise continues to benefit from experienced operators and staff from Los Angeles restaurants. Felix alum Michael Ryan recently opened Marlena in the Naples area while Jonathan Strader and Jack Leahy (formerly of Hatchet Hall) have opened two outlets of Little Coyote pizzeria. Later this week, art complex Compound in Long Beach will debut Union, a Filipino-influenced restaurant from chef Eugene Santiago, who worked at Terranea with Michael Fiorelli and Simon LA with the late chef Kerry Simon.

Mangette is currently open Thursday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1145 Loma Avenue, Long Beach, CA, 90804.

Passion House Cafe Closing After 7 Years In Logan Square - Block Club Chicago

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

LOGAN SQUARE — Fans of Passion House Coffee Roasters have until the end of the month to visit the tea and coffee spot in Logan Square.

The cafe will close its Logan Square location, 2631 N. Kedzie Ave., Jan. 31 after seven years in business, owner Joshua Millman announced on social media Friday.

The location is closing so Millman and his team can focus on the Goose Island cafe and open a second one in the same building as the roastery at 328 N. Albany Ave., which has been a long time coming, the owner wrote on social media.

“Since opening our doors in 2017, we were honored to have been lovingly welcomed into the Logan Square community, and have watched it blossom and grow over the past seven years around our little corner store,” Millman wrote. “As this chapter closes, we wish to thank each and every one of you who contributed in helping Logan become an integral part of Passion House’s evolution, and we to see each of you again in the not too distant future.”

Passion House moved its roastery operations to the East Garfield Park building in 2019 from the Near West Side with plans to open a cafe on the north side of the 25,000-square-foot warehouse. The roastery opened in 2011.

The cafe is slated to open in March, Millman wrote.

Millman did not reply to further requests for comment but previously told Block Club opening the East Garfield Park cafe fit his goal of investing into the community and providing a space for people to connect.

“A coffee shop, to me, is a community thing,” he previously said. “The fact that we can be a cornerstone to help build the community is so exciting and aligns with our mission.”

Passion House is the third business to close near the heart of the neighborhood in the past week.

Big Kids, 2545 N. Kedzie Ave., will close its sandwich shop Feb. 4 due to low sales, the owner told Block Club last week.

Also last week, Eater Chicago reported Roundhouse Sports Bar at 2535 N. Milwaukee Ave. permanently closed after less than a year in the old Rocking Horse spot.

Roundhouse opened in February by Uproar Hospitality Group, the same group that operated now-closed Uproar in Old Town. It served American comfort food with an Asian twist, such as cheeseburger egg rolls and Italian beef fried rice.

Exploring the Delicious in Dungeon Pop-Up Café In Shibuya - Anime News Network

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

Delicious in Dungeon makes its real-life appearance in Shibuya with a café. But it's no ordinary café. The new anime Delicious in Dungeon takes us into a fantastical world where adventurers explore dungeons, fight monsters, and loot treasure. However, the real treasure is the food we eat along the way. In this case, the monsters. Each episode showcases one or two new dishes made from the monsters seen in the series. So, how would those dishes look and taste in real life? Thankfully, we can find that answer at the four-day long Shibuya Delicious in Dungeon Store.

The two-story store was initially announced on January 9 on Twitter and is located in the Shibuyan_space. While small, there is a lot to enjoy as the store features samples of monster food and other items on the first floor, an introduction to the story, and life-sized acrylic statues of the series' main characters. So, here's what we saw.

Stepping over the threshold into the Store, the first floor resembles a family-owned or local restaurant with posters, countertop dining, and refreshing beer to enjoy. You can almost hear adventurers enjoying their food and company and the smell of delicious food being prepared. And surrounding the walls are posters for all sorts of things. From a challenge to eat the scorpion soup in 30 minutes, signs that advertise fresh ingredients like basilisk eggs, menu items posted all over, a calendar listing closed days and other events, and even advertisements for Red Dragon Beer, staff, and adventurers. But the two highlights are the signboards from people involved with Delicious in Dungeon and the covered cage with a basilisk inside.

The stairs to the second floor feature more Delicious in Dungeon-themed posters you'd find in local restaurants in Japan. These add even more ambiance to the store, making it feel lived in. Upon reaching the second floor, we're greeted with life-sized acrylic stands of the main characters of Delicious in Dungeon: Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi. Along with the acrylic standees, a short introduction to the first three episodes is available for visitors. It's a nice touch so people can refamiliarize themselves with the story. There are even signed Delicious in Dungeon scripts and figures on display. Those who arrive early will be treated to a free limited dragon broth instant ramen pack when leaving the store. It was reported earlier that the broth contains soba, eggs, and potentially pork products. The Dragon Broth Instant Ramen contains all three, as well as soy and chicken. People who are allergic to those food items or have dietary restrictions will want to refrain from consuming the dragon broth ramen.

The Shibuya Delicious in Dungeon Store is free of charge and was open from Thursday, January 18 to Sunday, January 21. The space may be small, but it fits the theme of a hole-in-the-wall Japanese family-owned restaurant that serves dishes made from monsters. Hopefully, we'll see more pop-up stores like this in the future. For now, let's enjoy the real-life (but fake) monster dishes from Delicious in Dungeon.
