Daily Provisions is back open for crullers and fancy BEC sandwiches
Danny Meyer has decided to reopen the Union Square Cafe-adjacent location of popular daytime cafe Daily Provisions — making it the first business from Union Square Hospitality Group to start takeout since the shutdown started in March. The counter-service cafe will return Thursday afternoon with a limited menu of breakfast classics, according to a spokesperson for the restaurant, including its sought-after maple crullers and hefty bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Slabs of Berkshire bacon, bottles of housemade hot sauce, and pints from Salt and Straw ice cream are also available through a new online store from the cafe.
In the days leading up to the state-mandated shutdown of restaurants for dine-in service, Union Square Hospitality Group temporarily shuttered its more than 20 restaurants across New York City, including Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, and Daily Provisions. Many of those locations, especially those that depend on sit-down service, could remain closed until a COVID-19 vaccine has been developed, Meyers said in an interview with Bloomberg earlier this month. At the time, he predicted that more casual concepts like Daily Provisions and pizza spot Marta would be able to reopen, as those restaurants are more conducive to operating as takeout only.
Daily Provisions will be available for takeout only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday. Order through the restaurant’s website.

— The Wooly, an American restaurant tucked inside Tribeca’s Woolworth Building, has reopened for takeout and delivery service, serving summery burgers, bottled cocktails, and shareable small plates. The restaurant will be including a packet of seeds for grow-at-home garnishes with each of its orders.
— Park Slope Italian restaurant Fausto is now available on Tock with a limited takeout menu that includes chef Erin Shambura’s housemade pastas, Negronis to-go, and bottles of natural wine hand-picked by owner Joe Campanale.
— Beloved brunch hangout Bubby’s is back at it in Tribeca this week. The restaurant’s popular pies, which rank among of the city’s best, are available in several flavors, as are its pancakes, burgers, and breakfast plates, but only from the restaurant’s Tribeca outpost.
— Beyond Sushi, the Manhattan-based vegan sushi chain, has reopened its Midtown, Union Square, and Upper East Side locations for delivery, as well as a new ghost kitchen in Long Island City, Queens.
