Here's Where To Get A Free Mask In Chicago This Weekend - Block Club Chicago

CHICAGO — Illinoisans are required to cover their faces in public to fight the spread of coronavirus.

Residents are required to wear a face covering or mask when in public and unable to maintain a 6-foot distance from other people, according to Gov. JB Pritzker’s office.

Some aldermen and businessman Willie Wilson are giving out free masks this weekend. Wilson plans to give out 5 million masks across three sites.

5-million mask giveaways

West Side/East Garfield Park: 8 a.m.-noon Saturday in the parking lot of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2622 W. Jackson Blvd. The effort is organized by Wilson. Details here.

South Side/Woodlawn: 9 a.m.-noon in the parking lot of Apostolic Church of God, 6320 S. Dorchester Ave. The effort is organized by Wilson. Details here.

South Side/Pullman: 1 p.m.-6 p.m. in the parking lot of House of Hope, 752 E. 114th St. The effort is organized by Wilson. Details here.

Other giveaways

1st Ward/ Logan Square: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays at Ald. Daniel La Spata’s office, 1958 N. Milwaukee Ave. Residents must pre-arrange a pick up. Call 872-206-2685 or email info@the1stward.com. Masks are limited to 1st Ward residents. Details here.

4th Ward/ Kenwood: 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday for seniors only, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday for the general public at CSO Sport and Medical Complex, 1301 E. 47th St. The effort is organized by Ald. Sophia King, NBA legend Cliff Levingston, Who Is Hussain and other groups. They plan to give out 10,000 masks.

6th Ward/ Chatham: Residents can request a free mask from Ald. Roderick Sawyer’s office by calling 773-635-0006. They will be directed to pick them up at the ward office, 700 E. 79th St.

7th Ward/South Chicago: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, while supplies last, at Rainbow Beach Park, 3111 E. 77th St. Drive-up only and you must bring ID for proof of residency. The effort is organized by Ald. Greg Mitchell. Details here.

12th Ward/Little Village: 1 p.m. Saturday at the Little Village Discount Mall, 3115 W. 26th St. Ald. George Cardenas plans to give out 6,000 masks.

15th Ward/ Englewood: Ald. Raymond Lopez’s office is delivering masks to residents. Call 773-306-0837 to request one. Details here.

22nd Ward/Little Village: Ald. Michael Rodriguez plans to announce a giveaway soon.

24th Ward/ North Lawndale: Residents can request a free mask from Ald. Michael Scott Jr.’s office by calling 773-533-2400. They can also request a free mask from Lawndale Cares by calling 312-966-0346 or emailing audrey.dunford@gmail.com. These masks are limited to 24th Ward residents.

25th Ward/ West Loop: Noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Mary Bartelme Park, 115 S. Sangamon St. The effort is organized by Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez, the West Central Association, the West Loop Community Organization and the Mary Bartelme Park PAC. Details here.

27th Ward/ Near West Side: Senior and low-income residents can also request a mailed mask by calling Ald. Walter Burnett Jr.’s office 312-432-1995.

28th Ward/ Little Italy: 10 a.m.-Noon Friday at 550 S. Throop St. This
The distribution is taking place today, Friday, May 8th from 10AM to 12PM at 550 S. Throop St. Drive-up only and you must bring ID for proof of residency. The effort is organized by Ald. Jason Ervin.

30th Ward/Belmont Cragin: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, or until masks run out, at Riis Park, 6100 W. Fullerton Ave. Drive-thru only. The effort is organized by Ald. Ariel Reboyras. Details here.

32nd Ward/ Bucktown: People who are elderly, have a disability, are at high-risk for contracting coronavirus or are essential workers can request a mask from Ald. Scott Waguespack’s office by filling out this form. The masks are limited to 32nd Ward residents.

33rd Ward/ Irving Park, Albany Park and Avondale: Noon-2 p.m. Thursday at Rincon Family Services, 3710 N. Kedzie Ave. Ald. Rossana Rodriguez’s office will be giving out 1,000 care packages that include masks. Residents can also request a free mask from three mutual aid societies. 38th Ward/Dunning: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday at Ald. Nicholas Sposato’s office, 3821 N. Harlem Ave. Residents can also request a mask by calling his office at 773-283-3838. Details here.

39th Ward/Albany Park: Ald. Samantha Nugent has already distributed her office’s limited supply of masks. Her office is currently accepting homemade masks created using CDC guidelines. Mask must be placed in a clear, sealable plastic bag before being dropped off from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday at 4200 W. Lawrence Ave. When masks are available again, neighbors can request them by filling out this form.

40th Ward/Bowmanville: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Streets and Sanitation parking lot, 5333 N. Western Ave. The effort is organized by Ald. Andre Vasquez’s office. Residents can also request a free mask by filling out this form or calling 773-654-1867. Details here.

41st Ward/ Norwood Park, Sauganash and Edison Park: 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, or while supplies last, at four locations: Immaculate Conception Parish Center, 7263 W. Talcott Ave.; St. Monica Parish, 5136 N. Nottingham Ave.; St. Mary of the Woods, 7033 N. Moselle Ave.; and the Edison Park Metra Parking Lot, 6730 N. Olmsted Ave. The effort is organized by Ald. 45th Ward/Jefferson Park: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday at Ald. Jim Gardiner’s office, 5425 W. Lawrence Ave.

47th Ward/ Lincoln Square: Residents can request a free mask from Ald. Matt Martin’s office by filling out this form. Due to limited supplies, mask distribution is limited to households.

48th Ward/ Edgewater: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at St. Ita Church parking lot, 5500 N. Broadway. The effort is organized by Ald. Harry Osterman.

49th Ward/Rogers Park: Residents can request a mask from by calling A Just Harvest at 773-262-2297; United Church of Rogers Park at 773-761-2500; or Leeda Services at 773-274-9760. Ald. Maria Hadden’s office donated 20,000 masks to local churches, senior homes, schools and nonprofits.

50th Ward/West Ridge: Residents can request a free mask from Ald. Debra Silverstein’s office by emailing info@50thwardchicago.com.
