4th of July in Jackson – here’s what’s happening - MLive.com

JACKSON, MI – After 244 years, Americans are even braving a pandemic to celebrate independence.

Fireworks and socially-distanced parades and events are still coming to the Jackson area to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Here is a list of what’s happening in the Jackson area:

Light up the Sky to celebrate Independence Day in Hillsdale County

The Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with other Hillsdale County groups to host a July 3 fireworks show at dusk.

Fireworks are being shot from the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds, 115 S. Broad St., but spectators won’t be able to view the fireworks from the fairgrounds.

People are encouraged to watch from nearby, as this year’s show contain a higher flying display so spectators can view the fireworks from outside the fairgrounds.

Fireworks at Devil’s and Round Lakes

The fireworks display at Devil’s and Round Lakes in Manitou Beach is scheduled for 10 p.m. on Friday, July 3. Fireworks will be set off from the Devil’s Lake sand bar.

Grass Lake July Fourth festivities

Grass Lake’s Sportman Club is hosting a Fourth of July parade that will start at 10 a.m. July 4, at Grass Lake High School,11500 Warrior Trail. People interested in participating can contact Jim Ducey at 734-395-7212. The parade will be grand marshaled by Grass Lake High School’s 2020 class.

Grass Lake’s cardboard boat race and chicken barbecue are canceled.

Somerset Township Music in the Park and Fireworks

Somerset Township is having Music in the Park and Fireworks July 4 at McCourtie Park, 12715 East Chicago Road in Somerset Center. Music in the park begins at 7 p.m. and fireworks begin at dusk.

Pleasant Lake Fireworks display

The Pleasant Lake-Lake Association will host fireworks at dark on July 4 over the lake at 4401 Styles Road in Pleasant Lake. Limited access to the county park at 4401 Styles Road will be available due to social distancing requirements.

Canceled Fourth of July events

Brooklyn, Cascades Falls Park and Hanover-Horton all have canceled their Fourth of July events as of Friday, June 26.
