CLINTON, NJ -- Tara Stone, Owner of Grounded for Life Cafe, recently appeared on TAPintoTV’s Sunday morning show on News 12 Plus, where she spoke to Host Stephanie Willoughby about her experiences as a small business owner navigating the pandemic.
Stone described Grounded for Life as a plant-based restaurant “borne from a need to bring healthy and compassionate food, made with love.” Grounded for Life had moved into a new space earlier this year, and just 3 ½ weeks after their opening party, the pandemic hit, and they were initially closed.
However, as an essential business, they have reopened and continue to remain open during the pandemic with the help of Goats of Anarchy, a sanctuary for special-needs goats located nearby in Hunterdon County. They developed an alignment with each other, which included fundraising and using those proceeds to create meals for essential health care workers. “People want to help, they just don’t know how to,” Stone said. Thanks to donations, Grounded for Life has delivered over 266 meals to Hunterdon Healthcare workers.
Stone shared an anecdote, describing how she received a $1,000 anonymous donation in the shop’s PayPal account, which she put to good use on payroll for her employees. “We’ve been so fortunate and blessed that every time we’re coming up against an obstacle, something is happening where we’re able to get through it,” said Stone.
The cafe’s latest initiative is “Cookies with Love,” which involves embellishing cookies with lighthearted messages for customers. Grounded for Life also sends meals to families in need and elderly community members.
