LEXINGTON, Ky. — A cafe in Versailles is back open after being closed down for several months due to the pandemic. Sparks Community Cafe is a cafe whose mission is to provide meals to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
Tristan Ferrell and Kyle Fannin, co-owners of the Cafe said they reopened their doors last week and are excited to invite their customers back into their restaurant.
“The pandemic has impacted more so our customers that are coming in and paying it forward, we see a decline in that but we're still doing our mission, day-to-day,” Ferrell said.
With their doors shut for the past three months, the cafe continued to collect donations using the money to help supply around 300 meals a week to community members in Woodford county.
“Our customers, our donors. They want to save this place. And they have raised nearly $15,000 since March 20, just in donations.” Fannin said.
Sparks Community Cafe is still looking for donations to continue its mission to help feed the food insecure. For more information about how to get involved with the non-profit, anyone can go to the Sparks Community Cafe Website.
