MUSKEGON, MI -- A new coffee option will open in downtown Muskegon this week.
A grab-and-go cafe with Starbucks coffee and food prepared in-house will open in the lobby of the Delta Hotel by Marriott, at 939 3rd St., on Thursday, Aug. 6.
The eatery will be open every day from 6:30 to 11 a.m., and will feature pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and wraps prepared through the kitchen of the new Walker’s restaurant, which opened inside the hotel last month.
“We’re really excited,” said Jonathan Smalley, general manager at Walker’s, which will oversee the new cafe.
It is the fulfillment of a plan laid out more than a year ago by Jon Rooks, owner of Parkland Properties, who oversaw the hotel’s renovation and rebranding.
The cafe will add to downtown Muskegon’s breakfast options, said Jaime Knudsen, executive chef at Parkland Properties, the development company that oversaw the Delta Hotel’s $8 million transformation from its former life as a Holiday Inn. Food items will be priced between $3 and $5, he said.
Eventually, Walker’s will offer full-service breakfast and brunch, Knudsen added, but until then, the Starbucks tucked behind the Walker’s bar will provide a “solid breakfast option,” he said.
