ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - Tartine Bistro is expanding its offerings with an on-site satellite café.
General Manager Sarah Migal describes Café Tartine as "a Parisian grab-and-go café" that will be open 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Sunday. It is set to launch Friday, Sept. 4.
"Chef Michael (Grieve) has been pretty much locked in the pantry for the last month and a half working on pastries," Migal said. "He's really nailed the croissants and scones and almond cakes."
She said the café also will offer crepes, breakfast burritos, and yogurt and granola bowls. But she added "For the people who love their French butter we'll have plenty of that, too."
The restaurant is bringing in an Italian expresso machine and drinks from three Cleveland companies: Duck Rabbit Coffee, Storehouse Tea and Guardian cold brew coffee.
Migal said the idea came about because the area Tartine Bistro is located in has a lot of foot traffic but there are not many "quick grab-and-go options."
Customers who want to eat at the restaurant can take a number for their order and their food will be brought to them, but that's the extent of the service, she said.
For Grieve, the creation of pastries is a no-brainer; he was trained by French pastry chefs at Le Cordon Bleu's California Culinary Academy.
