CLEVELAND, Ohio - Foyer Ohio City Café, the coffee shop that opened in 2018 on Detroit Avenue and was surrounded by temporary workspaces, has closed.
The café posted on its Instagram page Monday, thanking its staff, customers and vendors, saying in part:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of Foyer Ohio City Cafe. … As important as it was for us to continue to provide a warm and inviting space for our community to enjoy a lovely latte, Covid simply had other plans. We invite our friends and family to continue to support the incredible partners that made Foyer the cherished space it was.”
Foyer opened as a respite for the people who rented short-term office space in the Seymour Building. The co-working concept was owned by Pittsburgh-based Beauty Shoppe and was located right behind the former Ohio City Galley, which closed in February.
Restaurants in and close to the heart of downtown Cleveland have been challenged during the pandemic. A lack of foot traffic has resulted from the dearth of entertainment options, fan-less sports and no out-of-town guests for games, and the surge of people working from home.
