MILFORD, CT — The long-time owner of the popular Cafe Atlantique in downtown Milford has sold the business.
Owner Tina Roberts announced the news on social media and said she is about to embark on a new chapter and is relocating to Arizona. However, she said the new owners are committed to maintaining the business and plan to open in October.
Roberts wrote:
"Hello my friends…it's been quite a few months and hope that you all are safe and healthy during this strange and difficult time in our lives. With that said, I have had to make some difficult decisions both personally and professionally. As of today the Café has officially been sold to new owners - Ryan and Hanna, the owners of Hawkwood Game Cafe. As you will come to see, they are wonderful people, Milford residents, who are already involved in the downtown community and will do right by the Café. They plan to open mid to late October and will maintain the sprit and energy of the café as they put their own stamp on it. They have retained some of my staff so those welcoming faces you have come to know will still be here.
"I will be starting a new adventure myself as I have sold my home also and will be moving across the country to Arizona. Starting over is exciting and so scary at the same time but I am embracing the new opportunities. I plan to take my time traveling across with many stops planned with approximately 4000 miles to travel.
"Thank you all so very much for your support the last 10 years. You have no idea how important you are to a small business like this. YOU are the reason for our success and there aren't enough words to express how much I appreciate you. I have also loved being a part of our wonderful downtown community. Milford is truly a special place and I will cherish having been a small contributing part in our little corner of downtown.
Love and best wishes to you all…Tina."
