In the wake of uncertainly COVID-19 has dealt coffee shops around the country (and the world), Odeko and Cloosiv have merged to create a single platform. The new integrated company, operated as Odeko, will now all businesses to “support their process from the farm to the baker to the barista to the mobile ordering app.”
As reported by Crunchbase, Odeko, a New York-based inventory management system aimed at coffee shops, and Cloosiv, the New Jersey ordering platform, have joined forces to offer cafes a streamlined, all-in-one package. Bolstered by $12 million in Series A funding led by GGV Capital, this month the new Odeko is planning to release “a combined consumer mobile ordering and supply chain platform… as the first step in becoming a connected supply and demand platform for small businesses.” Additional enhancements for the app, including sharing farm-level stories and how customer purchases are “making a different in the community,” are currently in the works for a release further down the line.
The new all-in-one platform, per Odeko, aims to help small businesses that “don’t have the funds to hire developers or pay fees to food delivery companies.” Odeko CEO Dane Atkinson tells Cruchbase:
“This will be a more integrated model, so cafes and coffee shops won’t need to charge 10 [percent] or 30 percent on transactions because the customer experience will be bigger,” he added. “Today, we have data, so you can tell you what is on the shelf right now, as well as who made the croissant that day and where the milk comes from. We think this will make it a Starbucks alternative for customers.”
