Santa Barbara's Paradise Cafe has closed.
The iconic restaurant on the corner of Anacapa and Ortega shut its doors after 37 years in Santa Barbara.
The building was put up in the early 1900s and opened up for shop in 1938. It remains in the heart of Santa Barbara's downtown historic district.
Owners Jannis and Scott say their cafe has "enjoyed a long and well-deserved run as a neighborhood watering hole, a place for celebrations, date night headquarters, and as the best patio in downtown."
Their Facebook page remains up and is teeming with photos from restaurant anniversaries, holiday celebrations, and local events.
"It's no wonder that the community fell in love with this iconic corner of Anacapa and Ortega. We are grateful to you, Santa Barbara, for your support over the years," claim the restaurant duo.
Owners Jannis and Scott remain positive, however, claiming that "as difficult as change may be-especially in 2020, history is in the remaking."
In a photo they posted to their Facebook page...they ask cafe goers to "stay tuned for an exciting new concept coming soon."
KSBY learned they are creating a new concept for a restaurant with a re-vamped menu. They are currently cleaning and re-painting the establishment with the hope to open in October.
Owners Jannis and Scott shed light on this transition by stating, "one door closes but another shall open..."
