Durham, N.C. — Parizade is extending its service into the daytime with the opening of its new European cafe pop-up, The Grande Cafe.
The Mediterranean restaurant, which is located at 2200 W Main St. in Durham, has been open for 29 years and is restaurateurs Giorgios Bakatsias’ flagship restaurant.
The Grande Cafe opens Thursday and is billed as a space to relax, enjoy a snack or work on your laptop. WiFi access is available to all guests.
The cafe will operate 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will offer Van Gogh Coffee and Union Special Bread and pastries. The menu will also include lighter items including chicken salad with lox and cream cheese and sweeter options like Baklava, pumpkin cheesecake, flourless chocolate torte and macarons.
In addition to coffee, the cafe will have a new cocktail program with coffee cocktails, spritzers and a Bloody Mary. Parizade's full wine, beer and fall cocktail menu will also be available.
Socially distanced seating will be available in the garden courtyard and inside. Walk-ins are welcome, no reservations needed.
“We’re thrilled to see our restaurant flourishing so safely in the evening, and are now excited to expand on our Mediterranean experience and welcome guests during the day for a European café with coffee, pastries and afternoon cocktails,” Bakatsias said. “There are so few restaurants open during the day, and we have this gorgeous, spacious restaurant with a sprawling front patio and serene back courtyard; we’re able to offer a safe and socially distant café experience unlike anyone else in the area.”
Parizade is also open for dine-in and take-out dinner Monday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
