Cafe Astoria, the little coffee shop where Grand Avenue begins in St. Paul that is known for its crepes, smoothie bowls, and creative coffee and tea drinks, is popping up on the East Side.
The venture, called Cafe Astoria Side Hustle, is running out of the Cook St. Paul space, which is now dedicated entirely to pop-ups.
Owner John Occhiato said the menu of creative breakfast sandwiches, a few rice bowls, smoothie bowls and some of the cafe’s most popular drinks, is meant to keep staff members working during the shutdown.
“With patios rolled up, we needed to do something to keep our team moving and we needed more space for our customers,” Occhaiato said in a statement. “Lucky for us, restaurateur Eddie Wu, owner of Cook St. Paul, invited us into his place on Payne Avenue for the next three months.”
Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, pick-up only.
