CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- The Rise Above It Bakery and Cafe will shut their doors for good in February.
The owners made the announcement on Facebook.
The owners said the plan is to remain open until February, 28, 2021 to give customers to opportunity to use gift cards and to experience the eatery through curbside.
The Bakery said, "Rise Above It Bakery & Cafe, we believe, was more than a restaurant. It had become a community gathering space that showcased wonderful history. It was where friends gathered, former classmates met while visiting home, seniors met on a weekly basis. Business meetings were held here that only furthered economic development and inspiration for our town and region. It won a Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award for rehabilitation, reminding us all how far a building can come. It served a great purpose beyond homemade biscuits and famous salads...and a place to buy your dressing that had become an addiction."
"We loved serving you and our community. And we know God always has a plan, and it’s always for the good. Here’s to prayer and faith that good things are ahead. We believe they are and that closing the bakery is the right thing to do."
Crystal's Original Dressing will still be available for purchase, just head to Louis P&R and Big Muddy Hogs, as well as online.
Curbside orders need to be made before February 28.
Hours are Tues.-Thurs, 10a-2p; Fri.-Sun. 8a-2p.
Orders can be made by calling 985-FOOD (3663).
