Houston and several surrounding communities are under a boil water notice as many residents are still without running water in their homes, despite power returning to the region.

The Galveston Daily News reports that lab results have deemed the water safe to drink and that the water supply and pressure has been stabilized.
Houston isn't quite there yet. Until further notice, it looks like we should still plan to boil water until Monday.
According to KHOU, the following areas are still under a boil notice:
- Anahuac
- Angleton
- Bellaire
- Clute
- Deer Park
- Friendswood
- Hempstead
- Houston
- Harris County
- Katy
- Lake Jackson
- La Porte
- Montgomery County MUDs: 56, 141
- Pasadena
- Pearland
- San Leon MUD
- Seabrook
- Spring Valley Village
- Webster
In the meantime, the City of Houston and various organizations and businesses in the area are distributing water for free on Sunday and Monday. Click here to view an updated list of where to find water and when.
According to the Associate Press, about 7 million Texans were ordered to boil tap water to a full rolling boil before drinking it this week.
Here’s to hoping that number continues to dwindle over the next few days.
