Before David Shaw made a friend in New Orleans and co-founded a band called The Revivalists, before he recorded platinum-selling songs and toured the world and opened for The Rolling Stones, before he was asked to donate his pants to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ... he used to sit alone on his porch playing acoustic guitar and singing songs for fun.
So, it's no surprise that Shaw is set to release his debut solo album this spring. It's full of songs that tell stories with a full heart and a dance-able beat. And in this episode, we'll get a sneak preview of some of the new solo tunes as Shaw performs and talks to World Cafe New Orleans correspondent Gwen Thompkins.
