Here is what is happening on Day 39 of spring training with the Cleveland Indians - cleveland.com

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- As usual it took a while for the Indians’ opening day roster to come into view. Indians pitchers and catchers first reported to spring training on Feb. 15, but not until Saturday did they unveil just who the 26 players may be who take the field Thursday in Detroit for opening day.

It took a trade of reliable right-hander Adam Plutko to the Orioles on Saturday for the final pieces to appear from the shadows. Some tinkering may take place during the last three games in the desert, but here’s what the roster looks like right now.

Catchers (2): Roberto Perez, Austin Hedges.

Starting pitchers (5): Shane Bieber, Zach Plesac, Aaron Civale, Logan Allen and Triston McKenzie.

Bullpen (8): Nick Wittgren, Emmanuel Clase, James Karinchak, Phil Maton, Bryan Shaw, Cal Quantrill, Oliver Perez and Trevor Stephan.

Infield/DH (6): 1B Jake Bauers, 2B Cesar Hernandez, 3B Jose Ramirez, SS Andres Gimenez, DH Franmil Reyes, UT Yu Chang.

Outfield (5): Eddie Rosario, Ben Gamel, Amed Rosario, Josh Naylor, Jordan Luplow.

On the clock:

Temperature: The temperature in Goodyear on Sunday will be 86 degrees with a low of 52 degrees.

Covid (testing) and scrambled eggs: Position players report at 7:30 a.m. MT, pitchers at 7:45 a.m. and staff at 9 a.m. Breakfast will follow.

Let’s talk: Team meeting in the dining tent at 9:15 a.m.

Stretch it out: Pitchers stretch at 9:30 a.m. and position players at 9:45 a.m. on the agility field.

Session men: Civale, Allen and Cam Hll will throw bullpen sessions at 10 a.m.

On the mound: RHP McKenzie (0-2, 7.53) will face the Padres and RHP Joe Musgrove (0-0, 4.85) at 4:05 p.m. EST at Goodyear Ballpark. Game will be carried on Indians.com webcast.

They will follow: Oliver Perez, James Karinchak, Phil Maton and Nick Sandlin will follow McKenzie to the mound.

For the record: The Indians are 10-16 in Cactus League play.

Killer Bs: The Indians will play a B game against the White Sox at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz. at 12:30 p.m. Chang and Amed Rosario will make the trip.

Get on the bus, Gus: The bus for the B game leaves at 11:20 a.m.
