Maddie Collins-Macedo isn’t spending her summer vacation traveling the globe, camping with friends, or backpacking up mountains. Instead, she decided to open up her own coffee shop at Borden Light Marina in Fall River.
Collins-Macedo, 19, opened the Dockside Cafe earlier this month on June 4, according to Dockside Cafe’s Facebook page.
The young Westport businesswoman told The Herald News, that entrepreneurship “is in her family blood.” Her mother, Rustic Rose, owns a flower shop, also in Fall River, and her grandfather owns a construction company.
Collins-Macedo told the newspaper she just finished her freshman year at Quinnipiac University and that she conceptualized the idea for the cafe when she “started making coffee in her dorm for herself and her roommates.”
Using the money that she’s been saving up since she was 15, Collins-Macedo opened Dockside Cafe in the Marina, The Herald News reported.
The cafe is open from 7 a.m. until noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Dockside’s menu offers a wide-arrange of regular and specialty coffees, smoothies, shakes, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries.
Dockside encourages customers to send seaside pictures of their food and drinks for a chance to be featured on their Facebook page.
Locals are already raving about the cafe, according to comments on social media.
“Went for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. Congratulations,” Nick Ferreira said on Facebook.
“I wasn’t able to get there this past week and I’m having withdrawals!! Im making a trip tomorrow morning! LOVEEEEE Dockside Cafe,” Westport local Jen Rigby Lima said on the cafe’s page.
