Habitat of the Charlotte Region’s Julia’s Café and Books is searching for a part-time Barista who has energy, loves coffee, books, and helping people because serving the needs of our customers is our top priority!
Working to build homes, communities and hope in Charlotte and the surrounding area, Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region has partnered with more than 3,000 families since 1983. This year, we will help over 300 families through new home construction, recycling existing homes, critical home repair projects and financial literacy training. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a leading nonprofit organization in the field of affordable housing.
PTO provided for part-time team members. Flexible spending accounts are available plus a Retirement Plan with up to 3% match.
Pay range: $8.00-$8.75/hour plus tips
Essential Functions:

- Provide outstanding customer service
- Knowledgeable about company’s products and services, and customer-related policies
- Maintain clean and orderly appearance of the cafe
- Assist in training volunteers
- Be an effective team member when working with staff and volunteers
- Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners
- Know and apply cash handling procedures
- Good verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate a positive attitude
- Show initiative
- Regular and reliable job attendance
- Adhere to schedule
- Maintain a presentable appearance
- Ability to adhere to Habitat’s Code of Conduct policies and other policies
- Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region-related tasks as requested by supervisor
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to operate cash register
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
- Ability to read, count and write to accurately enter items into register, and complete beginning of day and end of day procedures
- Ability to lift, and apply pressure of at least 30 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed

Level of authority:
- Requires minimal supervision
- Reports to Julia’s Café & Books Manager
Estimated Time Commitment: 20 – 25 hours/week, Monday – Saturday as well as periodic holidays
Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug screen and clean background check is required.
