Alex Rodriguez Is Just Here to Make Friends - Vanity Fair

A Page Six spy witnessed A.Rod ignoring the “bevy of beauties” surrounding him to catch up with his friend Jay-Z.

Hey. Hey you. Are you listening? Are you hearing this? Here it is: Alex Rodriguez is not out here to find a date. He’s not messing around, nor is he “chasing skirt,” as it were. He’s here to make friends. He’s here to spend time with his boys. Are you listening, [Jennifer Lopez]? Are you hearing this, [Jenny]? 

Michael Rubin, Philadelphia 76ers partner and all-around wealth magnate, had a Fourth of July party in Bridgehampton this weekend. Besides Rodriguez, Jay-Z was there, as was Beyoncé and a number of other big names who know how to have an expensively fun time. Same as it ever was in July in the Hamptons. 

Page Six and its band of merry tattlers has this for us: “A-Rod came to the party with his nephew Nick [Silva, who is an intern at the star’s A-Rod Corp per LinkedIn]. He goes and sits with Jay-Z, Robert Kraft and Rubin. Alex had not seen Jay since the pandemic started.”

And the crescendo: “Then all these girls surrounded their table. It was literally a bevy of beauties trying to get to Alex.” And yet, A-Rod was not interested. He couldn’t be distracted nor bothered nor tempted. “All Alex was doing was chilling with his nephew and Jay. He knew what was going on, but he kept to himself.” 

Who is this George Smiley of the Hamptons party circuit? Who has Page Six on speed dial for moments like these? Is it an observant man who may or may not have formerly played for the Yankees? Is it the intern? Is it Jay-Z looking out for a friend? Is it one among the “bevy of beauties,” scorned but not too torn up about it? “He’s not looking to find any girls,” a second friendly neighborhood spy and “pal” of Rodriguez added, “but it’s nice to know that girls are still interested.” Who is this friendly neighborhood spy? Dying to know. 

I think we can cross Jennifer Lopez off the list, since she was not there, but was in the Hamptons at the same time with her new man, Ben Affleck—Water Mill, to be exact, where she has a home. They wore matching khaki outfits so they were pretty busy this weekend too.
