Here’s a number for you: $14,053,649. That’s the career PGA Tour earnings for Cameron Tringale. It's a sum the envy of most golf fans and, likely, many of Tringale’s peers considering it has been claimed without the benefit of ever having won a tour event. In May, Tringale, 33, passed Brian Davis to hold the dubious distinction of the top winless money earner in tour history.

All that, however, can change on Sunday at the 3M Open. After a Saturday 66 at TPC Twin Cities, Tringale, playing in his 307th career tour event, sits at 12 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of Gary Woodland and Maverick McNealy and two shots up on eight other golfers. It’s the second time in Tringale’s 12-year tour career that he’s held the 54-hole lead, the previous one coming at the 2019 John Deere Classic. Unfortunately, that didn’t end well for the former Georgia Tech All-American, who shot a closing 73 and finished T-16.

Tringale finished T-3 in this event a year ago, providing him some positive vibes heading into Sunday. However, no 54-hole leader has won on tour since Phil Mickelson did it at the PGA Championship in May, a streak of 11 straight events without a player hanging on from Saturday to Sunday.

Should Tringale do it, he would earn the $1.188 million first place prize money payout, which would be the largest single payday in his career (the previous largest was $745,200 for his runner-up at the 2015 Zurich Classic). The overall prize money payout at the 3M Open is $6.6 million. Here’s a breakdown of the payouts for every golfer who made the cut this week.
