Beginning Fall 2021, Snoqualmie Pass, WA will, for the first time in its history have a grocery store and cafe serving residents and visitors alike providing fresh grocery, cafe and to-go options.

Laconia Market & Cafe, named after the historic train stop at the Pass, will be housed in the newly renovated historic Firehouse, which will also feature an Evo Satellite Store, co-working space, and the new National Forest Service Visitors Center. Laconia Market & Cafe will offer a selection of groceries with everything from produce, to dairy, dry goods, and household staples.

Laconia will also offer a house-made rotating cafe menu of espresso drinks, baked goods, breakfast, sandwiches, salads, soups, and bowls. During the sunny months, Laconia will have a large outdoor seating area with beautiful surrounding views of the mountains!

Anyone who’s been in a small town knows how important a grocery store is to build and sustain a community,” said Kirsten Van Swearingen, co-owner & founder, Laconia Market. “This community has been especially challenged without fresh food options and our hope is that the store will become an important fixture and gathering space for locals and visitors alike.”

To support the final phases of construction, personnel and final inventory selection, Laconia has launched a Kickstarter campaign calling upon locals and the greater outdoor recreation community to ensure a strong and stable start for the store and many more years of serving Snoqualmie Pass!

The Kickstarter will offer a number of amazing rewards including unlimited fresh-baked cookies, incredible store swag like hats, t-shirts and totes, and weekly curated groceries based on Laconia’s recipes for top-end donations.

The market was founded by year-round Snoqualmie Pass residents Kirsten Van Swearingen, Garret Van Swearingen, and Katie Marconi who experienced first-hand the need for a resource like this at the Pass.

Kirsten and Garret’s background are as creatives working for outdoor and active lifestyle brands like LOGE, Rad Power Bikes and Nuun. Katie brings a deep level of culinary expertise from her work baking at Macrina Bakery and managing Cafe Fiore in Seattle.
