SB Nation Reacts: The Finals are here! - Grizzly Bear Blues

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in Memphis Grizzlies fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

No, the Memphis Grizzlies are not in the NBA Finals. But Memphis is known as Hoop City for a reason - residents of the 901 love basketball. The Bluff City consistently ranks among the top markets in terms of market share of the TV audience for major national games, and that will surely continue as the series between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns transitions to Milwaukee with Phoenix up 2-0.

Before Game 1 of the NBA Finals tipped off, fans of the Grizzlies and around the country were asked to predict who they thought would win the championship. According to the latest SB Nation Reacts survey, nearly three-fourths of fans believe the Suns will win it all.

Memphis has seen Phoenix a time or two, and of course the Grizzlies are familiar with several members of the team - former arch enemy Chris Paul, former veteran leader Jae Crowder, and Cam Payne of the 901 are all connections for Memphis folks.

If the Suns do win, it will be in no small part due to that villainous (dating back to the Lob City Clipper days) Chris Paul. According to 58 percent of fans, the Suns point guard is going to win NBA Finals MVP.

Behind Paul is his Suns teammate Devin Booker, with 17 percent of the vote. The Bucks player most likely to get the award, according to fans, is Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Fans expect the two teams to put on a good show. Nearly two-thirds of fans think the series will last six games, with another 18 percent that believe it will go the distance. Both the Suns and the Bucks are very good basketball teams with star power and strong support players. It has the makings of a classic.

While a six or seven game series would be undoubtedly entertaining, fans aren’t sure these are necessarily the best two teams in the NBA. 76 percent of fans think injuries have changed the outcome of how the playoffs would have worked out...and that is probably fair. The Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets would almost certainly agree with this assessment. But this NBA season was always going to be one of attrition. The Bucks and Suns are, both literally and figuratively, the last two teams standing.
