Good neighbor, a hidden gem of a café - Johns Hopkins News-Letter

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

I’m a self-proclaimed coffee addict as well as a coffee connoisseur. At this point in my life, only the finest and most refined of coffee beans can achieve the Eunice Park stamp of approval. But that’s not all I look for; in addition to the precious, handsome, delicious, energizing (the list goes on, but I feel I should end this here so as not to come off as too weird) cup of joe, the café itself is just as important to me.

I’m not a stay-at-home worker. I love sitting at cafés, vibing to the aroma of coffee and people-watching (totally not in a creepy way, I promise — more in a mysterious way, that’s definitely better). Recently, it’s been difficult for me to find a spot other than Starbucks to sit down at, but good neighbor came to my attention, and I finally had my new target.

Both the interior and exterior aesthetics as well as the good nature of the employees there (literally) instantly made me fall in love, even before I could judge the coffee. It’s sunny all around with large windows, and the interior is bright and cozy. With light wood furnishing and large plants lined up along the walls, it instantly drew me in. It was serene, quiet and above all, comfortable. Though good neighbor didn’t particularly strike me as a place where I would be able to be super productive with minimal distractions, instead it revealed to me the calm, peace and joy I would find whilst doing my work instead.

The outdoor seating of good neighbor does not disappoint or stray away from the standards that the interior already introduced, either. A seamless continuation of the light wood furnishing indoors, the earthy aesthetic and abundance of seats really promise a pleasant time. Whether you go alone, with your friends or your date, it sure is charming. The rooftop garden is also a great place for those who like the outdoors and want some cute photos for the ’gram (you already know I took a few of myself)!

Apart from the beautiful view and the café‘s innate charm, it’s obvious that the employees enjoy working there as well, and who doesn’t love that? It’s literally sunshine and smiles all around. Their drink menu has a nice variety and the drink prices are more generous than Starbucks. They also have a lot to choose from on their food menu and all dishes seem like the perfect, light lunch. Though I could not try any food on my first visit, I plan to gorge myself there soon.

Good neighbor also harbors an assortment of plants, kitchenware, houseware, books and other decor that is up for sale. I’ll only warn you once: You may get tempted upon your first visit to empty your wallet, so come mentally prepared!

Good neighbor is definitely my new go-to café, and it has my full support. Now it’s your turn to be a good neighbor and check them out. See you there!
