Welcome to Food for Thought, where we’ll be highlighting our culinary adventures across Northeast Pennsylvania.
Food for Thought stopped by Mattern’s Floral Café in Kingston for an early morning treat on its opening day in September.
This inviting café with smells of fresh coffee wafting in the air serves up floral-inspired coffee drinks (hot and cold), tea and baked goods.
On our visit, we had a Spanish latte (latte finished with condensed milk), Rose Latte (latte decorated with roses), an earl gray scone and black pepper goat cheese & thyme biscuit.
The café serves two signature coffee roasts developed by Honesdale coffee roaster, Black & Brass Coffee Roasting Company.
A variety of baked goods are provided by local businesses as well.
Cupcakes, macarons, scones, muffins and savory biscuits are whipped by Electric City Bakehouse, Scranton. Sweet Bakery by Kaitlyn Falzone-Shipp in Dallas supplies the iced, decorated sugar cookies and DeeDee’s Hot Chocolate Bombs provides the Hot Chocolate Bombs.
Guests should have their cameras ready because Mattern’s Floral Café has a colorful, floral backdrop that is a perfect spot for a quick selfie to capture the experience.
