PARKERSBURG — In April 2021, Downtown PKB and the Parkersburg Art Center held a contest looking for a local artist to design a selfie station and mural.
The theme of the selfie station/mural was unity and would be placed on the side of Unity Cafe in downtown Parkersburg.
Ashton Buzzard’s entry was chosen as the winning design. Buzzard, a former resident of Parkersburg who lives in Germany, was a frequent customer of Unity Cafe while living here. Since he would not be available to paint his design, he asked Miranda Wilson, Parkersburg High School art teacher, to make it come to life. Wilson began painting mid to late summer of 2021.
“This selfie station and mural was a great combined effort between Ashton and Miranda and is a beautiful addition to downtown Parkersburg,” Amanda Stevens, executive director of Downtown PKB, said.
