Howdy ATL Biscuit Cafe is opening later this year in the former Grant Park Coffeehouse space across from Zoo Atlanta on Cherokee Avenue, the AJC reports. Owned by Boyd Baker, expect a variety of biscuits, biscuit sandwiches, scones, hand pies, and baked goods, along with soups and salads, served on the menu here. Baker, who previously worked for Waller’s Coffee Shop in Decatur overseeing the food there, also plans to sell breads from local Atlanta bakers at the cafe.
In addition to biscuits, baked goods, and coffee, Baker hopes to eventually serve beer and wine and host live music, poetry readings, and political discussions at Howdy ATL, offering a vibe at the cafe reminiscent of a 1960s coffeehouse.
Grant Park Coffeehouse closed last fall after 11 years on Cherokee Avenue. It relocated to Park Place in downtown Atlanta near Georgia State University. Owner Rahel Tafari told Eater at the time of the closure that she was working to find a new location for the coffee shop in Grant Park, which should be close to the original space on Cherokee.
