Tropical Smoothie Cafe located on Emory Drive
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is adding a second location in Owensboro. It will be at the end of a three-unit building in the Gateway Commons area, and owners are planning for a mid-June opening.
The other location is in a three-unit strip center at the corner of Frederica Street and Emory Drive in the Wesleyan Park Plaza area.
“When I asked corporate about a second location, they said ‘you pretty much nailed it when you told us Owensboro supports Owensboro,’ so they approved it,” said Sean Byrne, one of the four partners of 4 Cats. Those partners co-own both Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations in Owensboro as well as others in the region.
Byrne said the new Owensboro location will nearly be identical to the first one, including having a drive-thru.
The menu will also be the same, and it’s something Byrne takes pride in. He noted the smoothies are made with real fruit, and that the restaurant also has a menu beyond smoothies — offering wraps, flatbreads, quesadillas, and more.”
“It’s just a great business to be in because it offers a healthy lifestyle,” Byrne said. “The first location has gone over well and we’ve gotten a lot of support.”
Byrne said the business will create 25-30 jobs, which is about how many were created with the first location.
