An 18-year-old man who was killed in an attack at an internet cafe was "so excited" about becoming a father, his family have said.
Michael Toohey was attacked in London Road in Liverpool city centre shortly before 18:00 BST on Saturday.
He was taken to hospital where he later died, prompting a murder inquiry.
Mr Toohey's family described him as a "beautiful, well-mannered, placid young man" who was due to become a father in three months.
A 34-year-old woman, of Fazakerley, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but police have not yet arrested anybody suspected of the killing.
A post-mortem examination confirmed he died from "multiple injuries", Merseyside Police said.
More details of the nature of the attack have not been disclosed.
"He was such a character but never had a bad bone in his body and never had a bad word to say about anybody," Mr Toohey's relatives said.
"His cheeky smile would light up any room. He was kind, caring courageous and idolised his sisters and was a brilliant uncle."
'Full of potential'
The family also told how in 2003 Mr Toohey's cousin Johnny Delaney, 15, was kicked and stamped to death in Ellesmere Port by two teenagers.
They said at the time they had "no idea who could be so cruel" and now felt that "history was once again going to repeat itself on another young innocent young boy".
The family urged anyone with information to contact police.
"A boy full of potential and grace has had his life taken from him and his family left devastated," they added.
Det Ch Insp Terry Davies, of Merseyside Police, also urged witnesses to come forward.
He said: "Although we have made an arrest our enquiries are still ongoing.
"We know there were a number of people stood at bus stops on London Road, walking past TJ Hughes or driving along London Road who may have witnessed this incident or a vehicle driving erratically at that time."
