Cafe Argentino (499 Grand Street), a family-owned steakhouse in Williamsburg, reported on Instagram that a fire blazed through their establishment at around 3:30 on the morning of Tuesday, August 23.
Unfortunately, the fire appeared to have destroyed everything, damaging several apartments in the process.
The restaurant created a GoFundMe, which you can donate to here.
“In addition to paying for the rebuilding, they will be required to continue paying rent and all other expenses that go along with the space,” a recent Instagram post said of owners Valerie and Cristian. “In addition, I am certain they will want to help their staff who lost their source of income as well. Without the income coming in from the restaurant, it will be almost impossible for them to keep up with everything that is ahead of them.”
Over a hundred firefighters were on the scene, six of whom were hospitalized for injuries, Brooklyn Paper reports. No civilian injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Last month, a massive fire damaged the local watering hole Union Pool, just down the street from Cafe Argentino.
