Charleston's Vegan Spot Gnome Cafe Closed Over the Weekend - Eater

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

On Friday, September 2, plant-based restaurant Gnome Cafe (109 President Street, Charleston) announced its departure from the black building on the corner of President and Cannon Streets. The last day was Saturday, September 3, and Gnome thanked its loyal customers. Fans were immediately bereft — many were sad, but others were mad to lose one of the few dedicated vegan spots in downtown Charleston.

Co-owners Saramel Evans and Sara Grimshaw opened their animal-free approach to dining in 2015. The interiors were bright, cheery, and open. A gnome statue peeked out from the pastry displays on the counter, and there was a grab-and-go fridge full of beverages and vegan specials near the front. Menu items ranged from a hemp sausage biscuit to a portobello BLT.

For those looking for a substitute for Gnome, there’s Vined in North Charleston for a vegan lunch and early dinner or Neon Tiger on King Street for a vegan dinner and cocktails.
