la nena brings traditional galician craftsmanship to dubai
An avant-garde concept which combines a quaint cafe experience alongside a creative studio and retail space, La Nena Coffee immerses visitors in its intimate, cavernous interior wrapped in natural textures and warm earth tones. Completed by A Vida Group, the concept sits tucked within Dubai’s creative industrial district, boasting a delicious array of coffees and pastries alongside the decorative interior collections of its sister brand La Nena Home.
Spilling across each corner of the cafe, from its interior surfaces to the furnishings, décor and even serving crockery, the design sensibilities of La Nena engulf the space. A sequence of rounded organic forms made in the company’s signature solid-surfacing materials have been handcrafted by local artisans from Spain’s Galicia region to create natural, seamless surfaces that merge fluidly into one. The sculptural decor and kitchenware can also be purchased in the adjoining store.

defined by handcrafted organic curves and earthen tones
Creative studio A Vida Group draws on local materials and traditional techniques from the hands of their craftsmen in Lugo, Spain, uniting them with modern craftsmanship for a uniquely immersive dining, retail, and studio concept in Dubai. In a 360 experience the interior is a bold showcase of home decor brand La Nena’s characteristic natural elements and recycled products transformed into distinct architectural and homewares finishes. The deep, clay-like earth tones have been handmade using mineral pigments and applied by hand, rendering each surface unlike the next.

From top to bottom, the architects tie the cavernous interior together with Middle Eastern-inspired arching forms, soft organic curves, and a minimal color and material palette which together create a vivid, intimate ambience. La Nena’s raw textures are illuminated by warm glows of soft spotlights, further enhancing the illusion of seamlessly blending surfaces. In a continuous visual form, the walls merge into the ceiling, the seating merges into the ground, and the table tops merge into the sculptural dishes and statement decor pieces.
