Universal Orlando has revealed more details about its under-construction Minion Land, including bits about Minion Cafe, its menu and other new experiences. The area and the Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction are scheduled to debut at Universal Studios Florida theme park sometime this summer.
Among the future munchies announced Wednesday will be banana-flavored popcorn from a walk-up location called Pop-a-nana, which will also sell popcorn buckets including one dubbed the Minion Selfie, Universal said.
The yellow, goggled creatures from the “Despicable Me” movie series are expected to dominate the landscape. A minion figure with binoculars and standing atop an enormous cupcake recently was added atop the building that formerly housed Monsters Cafe.
Visitors to Minion Cafe may see kitchen equipment used, Universal’s story goes, to create the dishes and the themed break room for Minion workers. The dining room feature artwork created by Minions, and there will be a patio available for dining. The cafe also will have an express window offering a limited menu.
Menu items revealed by Universal include Otto’s noodle bowl, a steak and “cheese ray” sandwich, Agnes’ honeymoon soup and Carl’s crispy cauliflower, a vegan option. There will also be a dessert named Bob’s teddy bear chocolate cream puff.
Bake My Day is the name of the bakery and retail location topped by the big new cupcake in Minion Land. At Freeze Ray Pops, visitors can purchase colors popsicles and beverages.
The resort did not give further details Wednesday about Villain-Con Minion Blast, the moving-sidewalk gaming attraction being prepared for the building that previously was home to Shrek 4-D. But it did describe a handful of photo opportunities, including Illumination Theater, an outdoor space to meet characters including assorted Minions, Gru, Agnes, Margo and Edith from the “Despicable Me” series plus Rosita, Gunter and Johnny from the film “Sing.” Another photo hotspot could be a new marquee that displays 23 Minion characters in action.
The dining experiences and Minion Blast will join the existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, a simulator attraction that opened in 2012.
