Next, a sibling restaurant to Alinea, has launched a Parisian wine café on its Fulton Market patio.
The café offers a limited menu full of French wines and a la carte bites, such as oysters in the shell, a cheese board and beef tartare. The café serves as an accompaniment to Next's current Paris-themed menu.
Next is a fine-dining restaurant operated by the Alinea Group. Nick Kokonas and Grant Achatz founded the restaurant, which changes its menu and dining experience several times a year.
Michelin-starred Next's current limited-time, prix-fixe menu is called "Paris 1906." It is an ode to the techniques and recipes of French chef and writer Georges Auguste Escoffier, who opened Ritz hotels in Paris and London with Cesar Ritz in 1906. His methods were documented and are still taught in culinary schools today, according to Next's website.
Next: Café, as it's called, is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. In a departure from its indoor component, 50% of tables will be saved for walk-ins. The cafe will be open until September.
