Blanco Cafe, the longtime San Antonio Tex-Mex staple known for its enchiladas and a go-to breakfast spot for locals, is leaving behind its St. Mary's Street location for another spot in the heart of the Alamo City. Blanco Cafe will move from its location at 419 N. Saint Mary's St., San Antonio, TX 78205 into the old Dalkowitz Dry Goods building at 201 W. Commerce St., Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78205, according to a recent TDLR filing.
Owner Albert San Miguel confirmed to MySA on Wednesday, August 23, that the restaurant was leaving St. Mary's Street after 45 years after the building came under new ownership in the COVID-19 pandemic. Now they are working with Weston Urban to move into the building at Commerce and Flores streets near city and county offices and UTSA's School of Data Science campus. The St. Mary's location has since closed.

"Some of the new hotels that are going up will be just a couple of blocks away. It will be good for all of us," San Miguel said. "It all belongs to God."
Blanco Cafe received our Reader's Choice for "Best Enchiladas" five years in a row in 2016. The popular breakfast spot also serves up a list of breakfast plates and tacos all day.
San Miguel says he hopes to start construction in about six weeks and possibly open in January.
