A new java joint has opened, replacing Parliament Espresso and Coffee Bar at the New-York Historical Society this week.

Cafe 77, at 170 Central Park West (enter at 2 West 77th Street), began service on Tuesday, with little to no fanfare. While there, we noticed the décor had not really changed from its predecessor, except for looking a bit more minimal and dark.
We also observed that when a couple of customers asked for half-and-half, the barista said they could only offer whole milk. And, it seemed to take a while to fulfill orders. The customers were told that because of other milk-related requests, they may change their milk offerings.
Cafe 77 also serves an assortment of pastries, breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go snacks.
Pastries include muffins, cookies, croissants and Bundt cake, all between $4.50 and $6.50.
They’ve got an $11 bacon, egg and cheese which is made with fontina and served on brioche; a $15 avocado toast with goat cheese; a $15 grain bowl; and a chicken sandwich and Caeser salad, both $13.
Cafe 77 is run by The Oberon Group, which recently opened Clara at the New-York Historical Society as well. Clara replaced Storico, which closed in July.
Cafe 77 is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more at cafe77nyc.com.
