White Dog Cafe Chester Springs Set To Open In Early 2024 - Patch

takanadalagi.blogspot.com

CHESTER COUNTY, PA —Fearless Restaurants will open a fifth White Dog Cafe in 2024 at the former Vickers Restaurant in Chester Springs, which once served as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

White Dog Cafe, known for its local, seasonal, and sustainable menus and dog-themed restaurants, is renovating Vickers and expects to open in early 2024.

Among the renovations and restoration to the property, Fearless Restaurants is refurbishing the roof and entryway and reconfiguring the kitchen while maintaining the site’s historical integrity as an important piece of Black history.

The location was home to Vickers Restaurant, a fine dining restaurant that opened in the 1820s in a refurbished farmhouse that was once the home of abolitionist John Vickers, who used the location as a stop on the Underground Railroad.

The restaurant on East Welsh Pool Road hosted former President Richard Nixon and astronaut George “Pinky” Nelson.

Marty Grims, managing partner of Fearless Restaurants, said the White Dog Cafe in Chester Springs spans upwards of 7,500 square feet and will accommodate about 300 guests.

“The new layout taps into a hallmark of the White Dog Cafe brand: creating a space that feels like you are in a home with each room having its own personality,” Grims said.

Grims said the restaurant will employ about 100 people.

White Dog Cafe Chester Springs is adding a three-season room to provide outdoor dining and is dividing the main banquette room into three separate rooms.

The restaurant will offer its award-winning American cuisine sourced from local, seasonal, and sustainably raised ingredients at lunch, dinner, happy hour, and weekend brunch.

White Dog Cafe Chester Springs also offers guests the opportunity to have their pup’s portrait hung onsite.

Janelle Morrison, a professional local artist who specializes in acrylic and oil paintings featuring animals, has been selected as the artist to create the pup portraits that will hang at the new White Dog Cafe.

Guests can commission one of the 20 paintings that will be created and permanently hung at the newest White Dog location. More information about the pup paintings is available here.

The proceeds go to Alpha Bravo Canine,™ Philadelphia’s first 501(c)3 organization that donates service dogs to U.S. veterans suffering from debilitating medical and psychological problems as a result of their active combat duty.

The first White Dog Cafe was opened in University City in 1983 by social activist and local economic independence pioneer Judy Wicks. Fearless Restaurants purchased the business from Wicks in 2010 and opened three more locations in Wayne, Haverford, and Glen Mills.
