With a waterfall of COVID-19 cases hitting local restaurant employees and patrons, an increasing number of restaurants are deciding to close temporarily to disinfect dining rooms and wait for staff to be tested. This is a reminder to call and check before making a trip to your favorite spot.
The Café on Water Street in Henderson will open Wednesday, July 15. Expect a menu of good home cooking such as chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, chops, steaks and sandwiches. Dessert options will include hard dipped ice cream and sundaes.

The long-awaited Chick-fil-A on Evansville’s West Side is now open. It has been busy, but cones are placed and employees are out directing to ensure that the line moves smoothly and that non-Chick-fil-A traffic is able to exit the lot.

The North Main Annex Gourmet Deli and Catering is offering pickup evening entrees to go. A large selection is announced at the beginning of the month. Meals should be ordered a day in advance for pickup (choose hot or cold) by 5:30 p.m. Some entrees have minimum orders, but there is no cash minimum. Some of July's choices are individual pot pies, Dijon tarragon cream chicken, salmon with brown sugar mustard glaze, cheesy cauliflower casserole, roasted red potatoes and many more. The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has sadly been canceled for 2020 due to concerns over the coronavirus. Everyone who planned on attending will miss the good food and fun times, but the non-profit organizations which rely on the festival for the greater part of their annual operating expenses will miss much more.
