"Bluebird," meet the Bluebird Cafe.
Miranda Lambert brought her chart-topping latest hit "Bluebird" to the storied Nashville songwriter's room Wednesday night during the ACM Awards.
Lambert — the most-awarded artist in ACM Awards history — joined Tim McGraw, Luke Combs and Jimmie Allen as artists invited to perform "in the round" from the Bluebird, one of three venues hosting the award show for its first-ever year in Nashville.
A pensive, optimistic tune that leads Lambert's head-turning 2019 album, "Wildcard," the single reached No. 1 on Billboard's weekly Top Country Airplay chart, her first solo No. 1 radio single in eight years.
Lyrics to "Bluebird" include: "And if the house just keeps on winning/ I got a wild card up my sleeve/ And if love keeps giving me lemons/ I just mix 'em in my drink."
"I love what it says," Lambert told The Tennessean last year. "It's got a little bit of a dark mood to it, but it's so hopeful. People ask me to describe it, but I can't. It's a feeling that I get when I sing it."
The song, she added, focuses on moving forward — something Lambert turned into a personal art with recent releases. "Bluebird" competes later this year for Song of the Year at the CMA Awards.
"Literally, it's going to be fine," she said. "There are things in your life that happen, and they aren't pleasant, but at the end of the day, smile. Sit in your moments. Don't live in the dark spaces. Moving forward is a theme in this record. This record has humor and is colorful and has some sarcasm, and I don't take myself too seriously."
