FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) -- As Christmas Day comes to a close, some restaurants in Fort Wayne were open earlier to serve Christmas meals.
One of those restaurants is Angel's Cafe. They opened at 8 a.m. and closed up shop, just after 2 p.m.
For their Christmas meal, Angel's Cafe whipped up turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and a lot more. They also served off their regular menu which included breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Management told Fort Wayne’s NBC; this is something the restaurant has done for several years. They say they wanted to provide families some relief from the pandemic.
"For us to be able to still contribute to everyone and have a great Christmas with everyone, it was amazing and a blessing,” server Leslie Salas said.
“We greatly appreciate everyone that has came out and did support us. They always continue to support us."
One customer who came out, Dennis Dix, said Christmas has a special meaning.
"The happiness of being back together with my family and today that is the main thing just getting together and enjoying life again to see each other,” Dix said.
Parker Cade is another customer that stopped by Angel's Café, having some family working on Christmas, he said he wanted to find a local restaurant.
"The fact that they are open for the community especially for Christmas Day and the pandemic, it's kind of a big deal,” he said. “In a year where it's been crazy, it's nice to have something normal."
Angel’s Café also did take out and curbside pickup if some didn't feel comfortable dining in.
