Hey, have y’all heard? It’s very cold in Texas right now. And in many areas it’s only going to get colder.
Yesterday Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for all 254 counties in the state. And the freezing temps are seemingly all everyone on Twitter can talk about—and maybe rightfully so.
Dave Caulfield, a meteorologist out of Indiana, even recognized how crazy the temps are in the Lone Star State, comparing the weather here to frigid states like Maine and New Hampshire.
And photos shared from Round Rock, Fort Worth, and Fredericksburg show stunning ice-blasted landscapes that put the temps into perspective.
Naturally, memes have arisen from the “unprecedented” weather, too. Even good ole Greg Abbott got in on the fun, sharing an incredibly Texan fix for freezing pipes.
Just like before every hurricane, securing groceries is a topic of discussion, especially from H-E-B.
And like George Costanza, Texans seem to be a little confused about what constitutes appropriate clothing in this weather. And as a former resident of the Midwest let me please urge you to wear something heavier than a hoodie if you dare to step outside over the next few days.
Instead look to author Terri Wilson from San Antonio. She has the right idea
