Begaj brought the cafe to a spot north of Justin Road in January 2020. The area stood out to him because at the time, the nearby residents did not have a breakfast restaurant of their own.
“This is an old neighborhood, and they deserve a good breakfast place,” Begaj said.
Eggspress Cafe serves breakfast not only in the morning, but also through the lunch hour and into the mid-afternoon.
One of the ways the cafe sets itself apart is through the variety of items on its menu, Begaj said.
In addition to traditional breakfast favorites such as three-egg omelets, pancakes and french toast, the restaurant serves crepes, migas, skillets, chicken-fried steak and eggs, and a number of other items.
The restaurant also has a full lunch menu with burgers, chicken, sandwiches and wraps.
Begaj and the staff make a point to greet customers in the morning and afternoon to make them feel at home.
Begaj said his goal of creating a go-to neighborhood breakfast spot that also attracts customers from the surrounding area has gotten a boost as traffic has picked up in recent months.
In the early days of the pandemic, however, business was often tough. And even today, the restaurant could use a bigger crowd on weekdays, Begaj said.
But Begaj is optimistic about the future. It is the support of the residents of Lewisville, Flower Mound and Highland Village that have helped bring his business to this point, Begaj said.
“We all live with hope that tomorrow’s going to be better than today,” Begaj said. “That helps keep us alive.”
