Upper Arlington is set to receive an exciting replacement for the former Huffman’s Food Mart and UA Food Mart space.

Littleton’s Market, a community-centered grocery store set to include a cafe, wine bar and event pavilion, is taking over the location, with a scheduled opening date of December 2022.

The market will be located at 2140 Tremont Center in Upper Arlington. It will be operated by Rob Littleton, a Senior Manager of Data Science at CoverMyMeds, and former CoverMyMeds CEO Alan Scantland.

“It was a desire on my part to do do something community-oriented, and I’ve been interested in a long time about people’s health and well-being, it’s what I focus on in my career now,” Littleton said about new concept’s origins. “Marketplaces are the intersection of all that for me, they’re about physical and emotional health, plus family and community.”

And while Littleton noted that the new store will be modeled in large part after Huffman’s exemplary service and community-mindedness, Littleton’s Market will bring about some major upgrades to the space as well.

“We’re pretty much doing a complete renovation,” Littleton said.

This includes adding 5,000 square feet to the building’s floor plan (for a total of 14,000 square feet), adding 30-foot skylights, a center island, and a cafe that will function as a wine bar in the evenings. The market will have a sommelier on-staff to assist customers as well.

Even though the space will look noticeably different from Huffman’s, according to Littleton, customers will likely notice bits and pieces of the former community market that called the building home.

“We hired the Huffman’s meat and deli manager, and he’ll be overseeing that department. We’re consulting with Huffman’s on how to make the space the best it can be,” Littleton said. “And we realize we have some pretty big shoes to fill.”
