One of downtown Detroit's most popular breakfast and lunch spots has expanded to western Wayne County.
The Hudson Cafe on Friday opened its newest location at 17101 Haggerty Road in Northville. The opening was announced across the company's social media channels.
The restaurant, north of Six Mile Road in an area that features a wide variety of retailers and restaurants, is the second Hudson Cafe. The original opened in 2011 at 1241 Woodward Ave. in downtown Detroit.
Like the Detroit location, the Northville Hudson Cafe will feature a menu including a variety of breakfast foods including pancakes, crepes and chicken and waffles. Lunch offerings include the Hudson, the cafe's take on the department store's legendary Maurice Salad. Beer, wine and cocktails are available, too.
The restaurant will be open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily with walk-ins welcome or by reservation.
The opening of the Northville location was announced in October.
St. Clair Shores-based Olon Interior handled design work while Birmingham-based Windy City Construction oversaw construction.
The new Hudson Cafe will have about 50 employees, owner Tom Teknos told Crain's in January.
Teknos on Friday did not immediately respond to requests for additional information.
The Northville Hudson Cafe opening comes as the Detroit location is undergoing renovations. The Detroit Cafe has been closed since Jan. 22. Teknos in January told Crain's the remodel would take 10-12 weeks and set the price for the work at $600,000-$700,000.
The Hudson Cafe is named after the J.L. Hudson department store that sat across the street from where the restaurant is now. Hudson's opened in 1911 and was demolished in 1988. Dan Gilbert's Bedrock LLC is building a mixed-use development on the site.
