Spring Bar and Cafe Opens Next to Nick’s Westside on Brady Avenue in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

A new cafe and cocktail bar opened Tuesday night in the former Tin Tin wine bar space along Brady Avenue on Atlanta’s westside.

Chef Nick Leahy transformed the one-time wine bar adjacent his restaurant Nick’s Westside into a cafe and cocktail spot sporting a name, decor, and menu changing with each season. The April debut begins with Spring Bar, followed by Summer Bar on June 21, Fall Bar on September 23, and Winter Bar on December 21. Get it?

Leahy says the changes to the name and menu each quarter are meant to not only reflect the flipping of the seasonal calendar, but reflect the changes in local produce available throughout the year in Georgia and to keep things fresh at his new cafe.

In addition to cocktails, like the What’s Up Doc with carrot-infused rye and carrot juice and the Travelin’ Light with orange peel-infused tequila blanco and rosemary-infused vermouth blanc, the cafe serves a tight menu of food from Leahy. For Spring Bar, expect dishes such as empanadas stuffed with ropa vieja and turnip tops over a spring vegetable salsa verde and roasted scallop ravioli in a Georgia shrimp brodo. There’s creme brulee for dessert.

The footprint of the former wine bar remains intact, with seating at the bar and at tables in the sunny cafe area, which also features a fireplace. Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a patio overlooking a green space that includes raised gardens and sometimes live music in the evenings.

This isn’t the first transformation for the two spaces now home to Spring Bar and Nick’s Westside. In 2020, Leahy closed his French Provençal restaurant Aix and wine bar Tin Tin, reopening a week later as the neighborhood-driven restaurant Nick’s Westside. The decision to close Aix and Tin Tin came down to the pandemic, Leahy told Eater at the time, and the need to shift away from special occasion restaurants to more casual dining experiences.

Earlier this year, Leahy closed his Brookwood Hills restaurant the Usual after just nine months at the Arya apartment complex on Peachtree Street. A representative said “it was a mutual decision with the building owners to close” the restaurant.

Spring Bar opens at 5 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
