Comfort Cafe on Bandera Road makes specialty coffees like a caramel latte, front, and Vietnamese iced coffee.

Comfort Cafe closed the doors to its Bandera location in 2021 after a severe flood caused the business to shutter. Since then, the building where a cafe once existed has remained empty, but in March the San Antonio Express-News reported that it would be demolished by the city. Despite this, a plan is in motion to continue Comfort Cafe's presence in the Leon Valley area.

On Saturday, June 17, Comfort Cafe co-owner Rosalina Lopez announced that a new location is in the works in a Facebook post, revealing an address of 6812 Bandera Road, Suite 101, Leon Valley, TX 78238. This marks the second expansion since 2022, when Comfort Cafe opened a new outpost inside a historic downtown building, the Heidgen House.

Comfort Cafe's Los Patios location has been lauded for its breakfast and brunch offerings, which include sweet cream pancakes, stuffed French toast, and omelets. It has also received attention for its pay-what-you-can menu pricing that benefits a recovery program for addicts. 

In 2021, Comfort Cafe was awarded a $10,000 donation from Yelp's “Make it Happen Day” initiative following the flood that devastated the cafe's Bandera location. In January 2022, the business was awarded another $10,000 from Yelp as part of its winterization fund. More recently, Comfort Cafe was selected as one of the top brunch spots in the United States, by none other than Yelp.

The new Leon Valley Comfort Cafe will open in the future at an undetermined date, in the space that was formerly the site of defunct Filipino restaurant Deco Cafe Filipiniana.
