LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Funmi's Café will unfortunately be closing their doors after over a decade in business.
"We are retiring from the restaurant industry and as a result Funmi's Café is closed. We may be saying farewell to Funmi's Café, but the immeasurable support from each and every one of you over the past 13 years has been remarkable," the restaurant said on Facebook.
Founded by Yomi and Funmi Aderinokun, Funmi's Café served authentic African cuisine with a goal to "give customers a great dining experience through excellent service and exceptional food."
According to their website, the menu is described as international, but the founders being from Nigeria heavily influenced their food. Their dishes used spices and herbs with different oils (palm, vegetable, and ground nut oil) to create "deeply-flavored sauces and soups often made very hot with chili peppers." They served jollof, dodo, eforiro, peri-peri chicken, and much more.
"While this marks the end of our restaurant, we're forever grateful for the friends we made, all the beautiful memories shared, and the amazing love we experienced," Funmi's Café said. "From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for the amazing journey you shared with us."
